Anti-wrinkle injections (Botox)
What is Botox?
Botox is short for Botulinum Toxin. It’s a neurotoxin produced by the Clostridium Botulin bacteria; an organism found in the natural environment. The word ‘Botox’ is the brand name of injectable Botulinum Toxin.
How does Botox work?
- Botox is injected into the desired muscle.
- The Botox blocks the signal from the nerves that make the muscle to move.
- As the muscle can no longer move, this causes the wrinkles to soften and helps to stop new wrinkles from forming.
- You may notice the results from your Botox injections with a few days but it can take more than two weeks for the full effect to be seen.
- Over 3-4 months your body will clear the Anti-Wrinkle Injections and the muscle contraction will return to normal.
